50% of 2025

I was looking up the week numbers for the past few weeks when I noticed that this week marks 50% of the year.

A table shows the week number, the date range of that week, and a percentage of the year for the months of June and July

I have a number of exciting things happening in July, and I can't help but feel like big big big life changes are coming. But before those start, I want to look back at the first half of the year.

work

Not a lot of app dev happened this first half of the year. My work was mostly been about working for other people. I did table twice selling zines though, and even if they weren't the most lucrative of markets, both times made me feel excited about making and sharing more zines/ creative work.

home

We had a friend stay over for a week and he complimented how much nicer our space is compared to the last time he visited (sometime last year). The biggest thing I did last year was get our house to a good level of clean and tidy after years of neglecting to clean it well (my parent's visited for Christmas, so that was the big driving factor). This might feel totally irrelevant to everything else, but honestly I think it was the thing that's kicked off everything else good happening, or maybe resolving it made living in general more enjoyable.

play

Some notable things just for fun from the first half of the year.

minnie

In March, we said goodbye to our grumpy ginger cat. She was not a fan of most people, but would cuddle us occassionally. I got her when I was in middle school; she lived to be 19. Her favorite thing was to sleep outside in the sun, so please go laze about outside and enjoy the sunshine for her.

I wrote the current state of my heartstrings for her.

next

My hope for the rest of the year? More indie app dev-ing, art making, and video posting. I'm entertaining the idea of doing a weekly post recapping work done in those three areas: indie app dev, art, videos. It won't be posted the week of, probably 1-2 weeks later, to give me time to play catch up when I need to. And it'll be paired with a carousel collage of photos for Instagram. The idea being that as I go through my week I'll be thinking about capturing photos of each of those areas, and that'll encourage me to do more work in those areas so I have shit to share. You know what? Let's just try it out for the month of July. Starting this week, I'll start capturing photos of the work, and in a couple weeks, I'll share it. After five weeks, we'll evaluate how it went. No need to commit to something I haven't even tried yet.
